Hampshire Sheep
Our sheep operation consists of 150 registered Hampshire ewes and 100 commercial white-face ewes.
Our goal is to raise sheep that are functional and profitable for us as well as for the people who buy from
us. We strive to produce consistent lambs that mature at 125-135 pounds and will easily yield grade 2 or 3,
which will return the highest profit to the producer. We look for muscle and bone in our rams to supply this
consistency and longevity. While we don't produce "show sheep" in the usual sense of the word, our top
end of ewes have done well locally and respectably on the state level in the show ring.  We generally have
sheep for sale. Call us if you are in the market or better yet, Stop By!
Ram lambs are scanned for loin eye size at 150 lbs. and weaning and post-weaning rate of gain information
is available. Stud rams are selected on loin eye size, structural soundness, muscle and bone. Emphasis has
been placed on performance following a carcass quality study held in conjunction with Iowa Lamb
Processing and Pipestone area sheep producers. Ewe lambs are selected based on maternal mothering
ability and performance and weaning weights. Lambs available in the spring......we keep a list of requests
for both ewe lambs and ram lambs. They are available on a first request basis, so call early if you are
looking.
